“This is the Presage of Self-Sufficing Fuel for Africans”

I want to share my thoughts about the reading I had today. I think this is a wake-up call for Africa to become more self-dependent through intracontinental trade that is the COVID-19 pandemic, which makes it more resilient in the face of global downturns. Strong intra-African trade, with a lower percentage of citizens affected by COVID-19 than the West, will provide a work buffer holding hunger at bay.

As I see it, a crucial long-term move that is required to shield future generations of Africans from whatever chaos might come their way is to redirect grants into building a larger manufacturing sector. Coronavirus may be, indeed should be, the crisis that eventually fulfills the promise of the African Continental Free Trade Region.
